Seconds out...round two

Welcome back to the titanic tussle here between the challenger and the undefeated champion of the world, the glorious game of golf. Well golf is taking the fight to his opponent today and he can kiss that brand spanking new Srizon Z-Star goodbye as it slices into the rough and gorse on the first. It's 6 on that par three but the champ is showing no signs of abating, one, two, three lost balls (thankfully all refurbs) and the challenger is on the ropes, a whopping 15, thats 21 shots thus far and twelve over par on two holes.

Surely this fight will be stopped now as he steps onto the third tee, my god what a comeback from the challenger that's a GIR and an agonisingly close twenty footer leaves a tap in for par. Tough combination from the glorious game of golf with SI 7 and 1 to come. How will the challenger fair? It's a bit of an untidy scrap now on the 4th but he escapes with a 6. The crowd wonder how will he cope on the monstrously long 5th hole, weighing in at 578 yards. My word he's stunned golf a 4I, 6I, wait a minute that's slightly sliced...my word what a recovery from behind that gorse with his PW, arrgh it trickles in to the sand...splash and a two putt for a bogey 6.

He's relentless now, the bit's between his teeth and its gearing up for a monumental battle on this front nine, he stuns his opponent with another par 3, but the champ hits back eating another tee shot Out of Bounds and a disappointing triple bogey 8. But the challenger's not finished, bogey, par, bogey, par he's refusing to lie down. That's 8 over par for the last nine holes, but does he have the stamina to see it through?

I don't think he has, 8,6,7,7 that good run of holes has taken it out of him, other golfers are beginning to catch them up and the challenger is unnecessarily applying pressure to his game. Deep breath now and he has one final go, what a tee shot with the 6 Iron that's gone all of 190 yards straight down the middle, oh what a traversty the approach is sliced wide, duff, duff again it's a long putt for bogey, my god he's drained it from all of 15 feet for a bogey 5. Can he finish with a flourish oh dear it's not to be, it's all over as the last two holes are dismal affairs and the champ knows he's got it on points, but after that disastrous start it looked briefly as though the challenger could really give him a run for his money.

And the scores are in (par in brackets):

109 (71)
6(3), 15(5), 3(3), 6(4), 6(5), 3(3), 8(5), 5(3), 4(4), 5(4), 3(3), 8(5), 6(4), 7(4), 7(4), 5(4), 7(4), 5(3)

The challenger will be pleased with that strong run of nine holes during which he amassed 22 of his 32 stableford points:
